Epidemiological analysis on dengue fever in Macao SAR in 2001

  Objective   To analyze the epidemiological features of dengue fever in Macau SAR.

  Methods   The 989 cases of dengue fever between August and December in 2001 in Kiangwu Hospital were analyzed.

  Results   The incidence rate was 325.98/10³.Population was generally susceptible to the infection.It was detected as DEN Ⅱ virus genomic sequences by PCR.

  Conclusion   The main measures were early detection of the dengue cases, cutting off the infection route of the vector and community involvement.The epidemic of dengue fever can then be controlled.
