Study on Hantavirus infection in rodents and people and their relationship in Shandong province

  Objective   To carry outsurveillance on Hantavirus(HV)infection of rodents in Shandong Province, in 2004 and to offer a guidance for prevention and control of haemo rrhag itfever with renal syndrome(HFRS).

  Methods   Rodents species were captured by mouse cramp and keptin liquid-nitrogen.The HV antig en of lung issues of these rodents were tested with direct immunofluorescence assay(FA), HV antibo dy of lung issues of these rodents were tested with indirect immunofluorescence assay(IFA).

  Results   The species of rodents carrying virus were Rattus noruegicus 6.24%, Mus Musmusculus 2.55%, Apodemus agrarius 5.00% and Sorex 5.56% in Shandong province.A nalysis of nuclearacid of positive lungs were SEO.Accor ding to Pearson correlation analysis, atthe level of 0.01, there was sig nificantcorrelation between rodentHV carrying rate and human epidemic situation.

  Conclusion   The HV rodents of Shandong province are Rattus noruegicus and Mus Musmusculus.
