Protective effect of nicotinamide on ultraviolet radiation-induced DNA damage

  •   Objective   To investigate the protective effectof nicotinamide on UVR-induced DNA damage.
Methods   Afterextracting human peripheral blood lymphocytes and treating them with nico tinamide as well as ultraviolet radiation, the damag ed deg ree of lymphocy tic DNA was examined with single cell gel electrophoresis.
Results   With the UVR dose increasing, the damage degree of lymphocytic DNA increased gr adually. After treating with nicotinamide within 0.01~0.1 mmol/L, UVR-induced DNA damage was reduced. The protective effectof nicotinamide showed dose-dependent manner.
Conclusion   nicotinamide is a perfect antagonistto UVR-induced DNA damage within fitting concentration.
