Protective immunity effect of Sj26 gene transfer dendritic cells on Schistosoma japonicum infection

  •   Objective   To explore the effect of Sj 26 gene transfer dendritic cells(DC)in inducing protective immunity againstinfection of Schistosoma japonicum.
Methods   BALB/c mice were immunized three times with Sj26 gene transfer DC, plasmid pcDAN 3 transfer DC and untreated DC, respectively. The number of adultworm and the egg number of liver were calculated six weeks after challenging with cercariae of Schistosoma japonicum.
Results   The rate of worm reduction and egg reduction in the group of Sj26 transfer DC were 34.5% and 48.5% respectively, sig nificantly higher than that of group of plasmid pcDNA 3 transfer DC(16.8% and 15.8%)and untreated DC(14.6% and 14.4%).There was no significant difference between gr oup of plasmid pcDNA 3 transfer DC and group of untreated DC.
Conclusion   Sj 26 gene transfer DC could induce protective immunity against infection of Schistosoma japonicum.
