The Protective Effects of Han-Dan-Gan-Le on CCl4-induced Liver Fibrosis in Rats

  • The liver fibrosis model was produced in rats by scinjection of CCl4, drinking alcohol, diet of hyperliprosis and hypoprotein, Han-Dan-Le(HDGL)was administered to rats simult an eously to examine the protective effects against CCl4- induced liver fibrosis. The results indicated that HDGL could markedl yall eviate the degree of liver fibrosis, decrease collagen protein contents of liver tissue, increase urinary excretion of hydroxyproline(HYP)and reduce ALT in serum. The CCl4- induced lipid peroxidati on(LPO) in liver and serum was signficantly reduced, while th eactivity of superoxide dismutase activity(SOD) in red blood cells was increased as a result of HDGL treatment. In conclusion, HDGL is effective in protecting against liver frbrosis, the mechanisms of the protection appear to be due to promote of liver collage metabolism and ant ioxidant properties.
