Abstract: The pilot initiative of deploying disease control supervisors in healthcare institutions represents an institutional innovation aimed at deepening the integration of medical treatment and disease prevention. Emerging from the mandate for healthcare institutions to fulfill disease prevention responsibilities, this initiative serves as a critical measure to advance the high-quality development of disease control systems. This article reviews the current status of pilot program for disease control supervisors in healthcare institutions in Zhejiang province. Applying a Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis, we comprehensively evaluated the initiative by constructing a SWOT matrix and proposed recommendations for the development and optimization of prevention and control strategies. To foster the healthy progression of this pilot effort, future work should align with national strategies for building a high-quality disease prevention system and the modern development of the Healthy Zhejiang initiative. Key priorities include strengthening institutional safeguards and workforce development, leveraging digital intelligence tools, enhancing collaboration between full-time and part-time supervisors, and improving the capacity of healthcare institutions for early detection, reporting, and responses to infectious disease outbreaks.
