Abstract:
Biobanks serve as the fundamental infrastructure supporting the development of cohort and medical research. The development of information management of biobanks is a pivotal factor in enhancing specimen preservation quality and unlocking the value of sample resources. As a crucial link that bridges physical biobanks with specimen information, information management of biobanks is essential for ensuring quality control throughout the full lifecycle of specimens and supporting research services. From the perspectives of top-level design and assurance systems, data governance, operational mechanisms, and shared applications, this article systematically outlines the current domestic and international development status of information management platforms of biobanks, explores technological development trends, and examines the major challenges currently faced. The aim is to offer references and insights for high-quality, standardized information management of biobanks in China.
