Abstract:
Objective   					To study the level of serumc-reactive protein(CRP)and the association with insulin resistance (IR)in obese rats induced by diet.
Methods   					Thirty male Wistar rats were randomly divided into control group and high fat group. They were respectively fed on standard diet and high fat diet for 12 weeks. Then the levels of serum fasting plasma glucose(FPG)and fasting insulin(FINS), CRP, tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α), interleukin-6(IL-6)were measured.IR was assessed by insulin sensitivity index(ISI).
					   Results   					The levels of serum CRP, TNF-α, IL-6 in high fat group were(2.933+1.039)mg/L, (2.029+0.152)μg/L, (130.32±23.28)ng/L respectively after 12 weeks.They were higher than those of control group(P < 0.05).Positive correlation was found between TNF-α and CRP(P < 0.05), IL-6 and CRP(P < 0.05), negative correlation was found between CRP and ISI(P < 0.05).
Conclusion   					CRP might be involved in obesity and insulin resistance related to obesity.
