Objective  To examine the service pattern, period, radius of routine immunization clinics in China and to provide references for management and decision-making on improving immunization service quality.

  Methods  We extracted the information on all routine immunization clinics across China through National Immunization Program Information Management System in June 2017 and conducted descriptive analysis on the data collected.

  Results  There were 141 310 routine immunization clinics in China in 2017, including 16 373 in the eastern, 44 966 in the central, and 79 971 in the western China, accounting for 11.59%, 31.82%m and 56.59% of all the clinics, respectively. The number of routine immunization clinics in urban regions, townships and villages were 13 331, 37 620, and 90 359, accounting for 9.43%, 26.62%, and 63.94% of all the clinics. Among all of the routine immunization clinics, 92 741, 44 128, and 4 441 provided fixed-site, fixed-site or household and household immunization service, accounting for 65.63%, 31.23%, and 3.14% of all the clinics. The number of the clinics providing daily, weekly/ten-day, monthly, bi-monthly, and other periodic immunization service were 33 346, 26 523, 81 047, 239, and 155, accounting for 23.60%, 18.77%, 57.35%, 0.17%, and 0.11% of the clinics, respectively. The number of the clinics with the service radius of 0 – 5, 6 – 10, and > 10 kilometers were 89 373, 28 552, and 23 385, accounting for 63.25%, 20.21%, and 16.55% of the clinics.

  Conclusion  The service forms of routine immunization clinics in China are mainly fixed-point service, and service cycles and radius of routine immunization clinics basically meet the requirements of the basic immunization services.
