Abstract: ObjectiveTo understand the epidemio logical features of pulmonary tubercu losis(TB)in Ezhou city,and to provide scientific basis for the formulation and implementation of TB control and prevention policy.MethodsRegistry data of pulmonary tuberculosis cases in Ezhou city form 1997 through 2008 were collected and analyzed comprehensively with method of descriptive epidemiology.ResultsFrom 1997 through 2008,6 752 tube rculosis cases were reported(5 416 newly registered,1 366 relapse,85 deceased).The yearly average active pulmonaery tubercu losis registration rate was 54.27 per 100 000;the yearly average incidence of new smear-positive registered rate was 33.58 per 100 000;the yearly average fatality rate was 1.25%.The proportion of new registered smear-positive decreased obviously form 2005 through 2008 with the percentages of 72.7%,56.3%,41.87%,46.8%,respectively.The proportion of newsmear-positiv e to retreatment smear-positive rose from 2.54 in 1997 to 4.26 in 2008.The incidence rate in male was 2.07 times higher than that of in the female.Seventy percent of new smear-postitve patients were over 30 years old.Peasant, woker and student contributed the most of the cases.ConclusionActive pulmonary tuberculosis rgistration rate increases in a curved manner from 1997 to 2008.Smear-positive rate is decreased recently.
