Abstract: ObjectiveTo develop and validate the quality of life instrument for irritable bowel syndrome(QLICD-IBS)patients.MethodsThe programmed decision-making method was used to develop a scale a ssociated with domestic culture background.The psychometric properties of the instrument were evaluated by analyzing the data from 99 patients with irritable bowel syndrome.The statistic methods used in the research included Pearson correlation,factor analysis,cluster analysis and pairedt student test.ResultsThe QLICD-IBS was developed with 30 items of general module and 15 items of specific module.Most coeffic ients of internal consistency and test-retest reliability for face t and domain scores were above 0.6;all of correlation coefficients between items and its facet and domain were higher than the item with other facets and domains;and most of ther values were above 0.9.The scale had the ability to detect clinical change due to treatment.ConclusionThe QLICD-IBS is valid,reliable,sensitive and reasonable for opearation in clinical settings and can be used to assess quality of life for patients with irritable bowel syndrome.
