Abstract: Objective To study the variability of human immunodeficiency virus-1(HIV-1) in Guizhou province,and to provide scientific data for HIV/AIDS prevention and control.Methods Totally 190 HIV-1 strain samples were collected in Guizhou province and the Env gene was amplified with nested PCR and its sequence was compared with that of standard subtype strains.The variatiors of the HIV-1 strains detected were determined with homology and dispersion analyses.Results Three subtype HIV-1 strains of CRF07-BC,CRF08-BC,and CRF01-AE were detected and the three sutype strains accounted for 63.41%,36.59%,and 52.10% of HIV positive samples in the year in Guizhor province.CRF07-BC and CRF08-BC were homologous with C.IN.92 from India.CRF01-AE was homologous with 01AE.TH90 transmitted from Europe to Thailand.The genetic distance of BC subtype variation was 0.049%±0.007% and that of AE sub-type was 0.064%±0.008%.Conclusion HIV-1 strain in Guizhou province showed highly variable characteristics.B,B' and C subtypes has varied to CRF07-BC and RF08-BC prevalent subtypes.E subtypes has varied to CRF01-AE recombinant subtype.
