Abstract: Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effect of vaginal carrier suppository with ester-catechins on bacterial vaginitis.Methods NewZealand big white rabbits(36)were randomly assigned to 6 groups:normal control group,model control group,Fukang carrier suppository group,and three groups of vaginal carrier suppository with ester-catechins.The bacterial vaginitis model was established by injecting the mixture bacteria of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli into the vagina of the rabbits and the effect of vaginal carrier suppository with ester-catechins on the bacterial vaginitis was observed.Results After local application of vaginal carrier suppository with ester-catechins for 7 consecutive days,the moderate and high dose treatments showed the same effectiveness as Fukang carrier suppository with a curative rate of 83.3%.Compared to the model control group,both the moderate and high dose of the vaginal carrier suppository with ester-catechins markedly inhibited the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.Conclusion The vaginal carrier suppository with ester-catechins showed remarkable therapeutic effect for bacterial vaginitis in rabbits.
