Abstract:
Objective The psychological health status,coping style and social support of family members of HIV-infected people were evaluated and their relationships were examined.
Methods 44 family members of 44 HIV-infected people in rural areas in Hubei province completed a questionnaire packet that included measures of SCL-90,coping style and social support.
Results (1)The score of SCL-90 was significantly higher than that of general population;(2)There might be gender difference in psychological health;(3)There was no significant dfiference between the score and the norm in positive coping,however,the score af negative coping was higher than the norm;(4)Family was the major social support source,and family members lacked sufficient friend support;(5)The relationship between psychological health and coping style,social support was not very clear in this sample.
Conclusion The psychological health of family members should be cared about when the society helped the HIV-infected people and their families.
