Abstract:
Objective To explore the main risk factors for human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)infection in drug users, providing scientific bases for prevention and a reference method for similar study.
Methods A modified Logistic regression by principal component was applied to explore the main risk factors for HIV infection among drug users.
Results The significant risk factors related to HIV infection among drug users were type of drug-using, needles sharing, number of needle-sharing partners, regular needle-sharing partners, and handling of remaining blood in shared needles.
Conclusion Advocating Methadone Maintenance and implementing needle-exchange plan and promoting safety injection were important measures to control HIV infection among drug users.
