Abstract:
Objective To study the effects of allitridi on cisplatin(CDDP)-induced nephrotoxicity and exploreits possible mechanisms in rats.
Methods Male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into three groups: control, CDDP, CDDP+allitridi.Then rats were killed on day 1, 3, 5 after CDDP treatment.Nephrotoxicity was assessed by measurements of body weight, kidney index, the contents of blood ureanitrogen(BUN), changes in malondialdehyde(MDA)formation and the activity of superoxide dismutase(SOD)in kidney cortexhomogenate.
Results Allitridi pretreatment would alleviate the CODP-induced changes of body weight, kidney index, BUN, and inhibit the increases of MDA formation in kidney cortex homogenate, and enhance the decrease of activities of SOD in kidney cortex homogenate in rats.
Conclusion By oral administration, allitridi pr etreatment can remarkably alleviate CDDP-induced nephro to xicity.The mechanisms may be involved in antioxidation, scanvaging of free radicals, and enhancement of the activities of some antioxidant enzymes.
